Our history is both long and short. EnterCard was originally founded in Trondheim in 1999, as Sparebank 1 kredittkort AS. In 2003 Swedbank bought the company, and together with Barclays Bank in 2005 founded a joint venture with the aim of becoming the leading credit card business in the Nordic market. Part of Swedbank’s Swedish card business was moved over to the new company, which kept the original name, EnterCard. That is the short version.
Both of our owners, on the other hand, have a long history and extensive expertise within the credit card field. Barclaycard has over 40 years of experience and has managed to become one of the largest credit card issuer in Europe.
Over the past five years, EnterCard has grown significantly and developed into a successful Nordic credit card company with operations in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and soon also Finland.
