Safe internet use

If you take safety precautions online, your risk of fraud decreases. Think about how you send and receive e-mails, do not give out more information than strictly necessary and do not click on links if you do not know the contents. When shopping online, always check that the website is legitimate and be cautious about where you fill in your account number.

Remember to be careful when clicking on links or downloading programs coming from e-mail addresses or forums, especially if the sender is unknown. If you are not sure that a file or program that you have downloaded contains something harmful, you should first save it on your hard drive and then control it using your anti-virus program. Always log out from websites before you exit.
